A Handy Guide to Ask My GP

  • The easiest and fastest way to get any kind of help is with askmyGP.  It saves us time too, so please help us to help you.

  • Available between 0600 and 1600 - we respond in working hours, 0830 to 1600 Monday to Friday. All contact must be online via the website unless unable to use the internet to free the phone lines for our vulnerable patients.

  • Please note, in order to maintain our same-day service (and thus avoid waits of several weeks!), we can only accept routine requests (ie non urgent) BEFORE 12PM each day. We will continue to accept urgent "on the day" requests during working hours - please continue to submit online (or please call 202066 if after 4pm). Sometimes due to staff shortages or days with  greatly increased demand, it is necessary to accept only urgent cases earlier in the day.

  • As we are a same day service, if we receive a routine request after 12PM, we must ask for you to resubmit it on another day (one that is convenient for you) before 12PM - otherwise the sheer volume of requests becomes unmanageable!  We can no longer hold your request to the following day, as we have previously tried to do this, but unfortunately then had to spend a significant amount of time on the phone trying to get in contact with patients who had forgotten they had put in a request the previous day, rather than seeing patients.

  • Unless you have no other means of doing so, all requests to contact the doctor must be online via askmyGP to save the telephone lines for those unable or needing emergency care.

  • Click here for a handy guide to show you how easy it is to register and submit a request

  • We will get back to you the same day - our response will be as quick as possible based on clinical need - NB: If it is after 1600 and your need is URGENT, please call 01483 202066

  • All our registered patients are welcome, parents and carers on behalf of patients too.

  • You can name a GP if you wish (so long as they are working that day) but we cannot guarantee that you will always be contacted by the GP you select - we will always strive for continuity for any given problem for reasons of safety and clinical effectiveness.

  • You may prefer a telephone, email or face to face response

  • You can sign up now, with no paperwork

  • To register, click on the link above and on the main screen select 'consult your GP', then 'Sign up as a new user' and fill in your details

  • Tips to get the most out of the system:

    • Contact us as early as possible in the day

    • Name your preferred contact method, and keep your phone on you if expecting a call

    • When expecting a call it may appear as the surgery number or a 'withheld number'

    • If there are times in the day when you cannot talk or come to the surgery, then please let us know on the request to avoid disappointment

    • For routine Nurse appointments then please call reception to book this.

    • You can send a photo with your request which can be very helpful, especially with skin rashes

    • Please do not send any sensitive photos of anyone under 18 years old
