New Appliance Prescription Service
Catheter, Stoma and Irrigation Appliances
From 8 September 2025, our practice will no longer be issuing prescriptions for:
-
Urology (catheter-related) appliances – including long-term and intermittent self-catheterisation (ISC) catheters, sheaths, and leg/night bags
-
Stoma pouches and accessories
-
Trans-anal irrigation systems
Instead, your prescriptions for these items will be managed by a new service called the Surrey Heartlands Appliance Prescription Management Service (SHAPMS). This new dedicated service is designed to streamline the ordering and subsequent delivery of your prescription.
If you are affected by this change and are happy for us to transfer your prescription data to Bullen’s Healthcare (dispensing and delivery provider) you do no need to do anything.
If you prefer to remain with your current dispensing and delivery provider you will need to arrange this directly with the prescribing service (contact details below) after the 8th September.
If you do not wish for us to transfer your data you must contact the surgery via email to opt out of data sharing by the practice (not the service itself) by the 22nd August.
Those who choose for us not to share their data in this way, will need to register themselves with the service after 8th September to continue receiving prescriptions. This can be done online or by phone.
From 8 September, those who have transferred will receive a welcome call, or you can contact the service in the following ways:
-
Freephone: 0800 138 8630 - Monday to Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday 9 am to 1 pm (excluding bank holidays)
