•  Some of you may have seen media reports (many conflicting) about the emergence of Semaglutide (also known by the brand names Ozempic®, Wegovy® and Rybelsus®​) for assisting patients in losing weight.

• It is already established as a medication for patients with diabetes but it is not yet available for weight loss in primary care.

​

• A pilot is being planned by NHS England that is likely to lead to wider availability of semaglutide for weight loss in the future, but it is months in the making.

​

• At present, we are unfortunately unable to prescribe semaglutide for weight loss but we will keep this page updated when we know more. 8/6/23
