‘After 37 very happy years as a GP at Shere Surgery I have decided to retire.

I am fortunate indeed. I have had such an interesting, challenging and fulfilled career helped by you our wonderful patients, our supportive community, and a fabulous team.

While I am looking forward to my retirement and all the opportunities this offers I leave the patients with much sadness. I shall miss you all, many of whom I have come to know incredibly well, having shared so much together over the years. I take with me many cherished memories and am privileged to have been involved in your care.

I have been blessed over the years with a great team. All are dedicated to providing you with the best care possible whether it be admin, nursing, doctors or dispensary. Whilst inevitably the surgery has evolved and developed there has always been a high degree of stability and low turnover of staff, which is testament to its caring and supportive ethos.

Throughout the majority of my time at Shere there has been close working with SALV, our patient led charitable trust whom I would like to thank wholeheartedly. Over the years, with incredible support from you our patients, SALV has enabled the development of numerous additional services. Not only has this enhanced the care we can give you, it has given our team great job satisfaction.

So what about the future?

We are delighted to have been able to appoint Dr Alex Argent as a salaried doctor to replace my general practice sessions. He will be working on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays from the beginning of August. He is highly thought of by our team and we are getting great feedback from those of you whom he has looked after so far.

Some of you may know about our Guildford & Waverley Community Gynaecology Service, run from Shere Surgery.  I am excited to be continuing work in this service as part of a staged retirement which will keep me in touch with the practice and those of you referred in for care.

As I step down as a partner I leave a fabulous partnership team in Emma Watts, Douglas Wardrop, Helen Barnes, and Marcus McEwen. All four are superb, innovative and committed doctors dedicated to providing you with high quality care. I have absolute confidence that you are in excellent hands. Together they carry the Shere Surgery ethos forward.’

Wishing you all the best of health,

Charlotte

We understand many patients may wish to leave a message to Charlotte. There will be a book in reception should patients wish to pop in to the surgery and write a farewell message. Alternatively please feel free to write a message below which will then be printed out and placed in the book.

Many thanks
