Nurse Louise Main and her new role in urgent on the day care
With the ever increasing pressure on GP surgeries in general, and Shere Surgery in particular, it has become necessary to look for alternative ways to maximise the availability of routine GP appointments whilst ensuring that patients in need of urgent on the day care can be helped in a timely way.
As many patients know Nurse Louise has a wealth of experience in practice nursing, managing long term and acute conditions, minor ailments and urgent care. This experience makes Louise ideally suited to a new role in providing urgent on the day care to our patients.
We will begin trialling this new role on 16th October 2017 and all patients in need of urgent on the day care, on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, will be given an initial telephone consultation with Louise. It may be that the problem can be resolved over the telephone but if not patients may be given an appointment with Louise or with a GP as appropriate.
All routine nursing care previously provided by Louise will continue to be available from her very able colleagues in the nursing team. If anyone is particularly concerned about how this change may affect them personally please do contact Nurse Alison Bytheway who will be happy to help.
